Repatriation from India to Qatar: what to expect

Indian nationals are the single largest expatriate group in Qatar. When a Qatar-based Indian worker has a family member die in India, repatriation of remains to Qatar follows an established documentation pathway through the Qatari Embassy in New Delhi. This is one of the highest-volume South Asia to Gulf repatriation corridors.

  • Key documents: Indian death certificate and No Objection Certificate (NOC) from local police
  • Documentation takes 14-30 days minimum. Often 4-6 weeks.
  • Post-mortem is frequently required: Indian police routinely order examinations for unexpected foreign national deaths.
  • Qatar Embassy in New Delhi can advise on documentation. They cannot fund repatriation.
