Repatriation from Tanzania to Japan: what to expect

Tanzanian nationals in Japan include students on academic scholarships and a small community of professionals. Tanzania and Japan have bilateral ties through Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) programmes, with Japan among Tanzania's long-standing development partners. Tanzanian death certificates (in Swahili and English) require certified Japanese translation and authentication through the Japanese Embassy in Dar es Salaam. Families should confirm current authentication requirements with the Embassy. (Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2025.)
