Quick answer
Repatriation from Qatar to Nepal: what to expect
Nepal is one of the largest sources of migrant workers in Qatar, with Nepali nationals throughout construction, hospitality, and domestic services. Deaths of Nepali nationals in Qatar trigger a specific overseas worker repatriation process. The Embassy of Nepal in Doha handles all such cases. When a Nepali national dies in Qatar, the sponsoring employer (under the kafala system) notifies both the Ministry of Interior Civil Status Affairs Department and the Embassy of Nepal in Doha. Qatar is not a Hague Apostille Convention member; the Embassy of Nepal in Doha coordinates the overseas death registration and issues a No Objection Certificate for repatriation. All documents are in Arabic and require certified Nepali translation. Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu is Nepal's only international airport. (Embassy of Nepal, Doha; Government of Nepal Ministry of Home Affairs, 2025; Qatar Ministry of Interior, 2025.)

All documents are in Arabic and require certified translation. The public prosecutor takes jurisdiction for violent, suspicious, or unexplained deaths. Qatar is not a Hague Apostille Convention member; full consular authentication is required for all foreign documents. Contact the relevant embassy on the day of death.
