What happens after a death in Hong Kong

Contact emergency services (999). Death must be reported to the Births and Deaths Registry within 24 hours of the medical certificate of cause of death being issued. The Hong Kong Police Force takes jurisdiction for violent, suspicious, or unexplained deaths; a coroner may be appointed. Death certificates are issued in English and Chinese. Hong Kong is not a Hague Apostille Convention member, as China has not ratified the convention; documents must be authenticated through the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Legalisation process.
