Repatriation from France to Japan: what to expect

Japanese nationals form a community in France, concentrated in Paris and the greater Paris region, with Paris hosting one of the largest Japanese communities in Europe. Japan and France share extensive cultural, trade, and diplomatic ties, including the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement. French documentation requires certified Japanese translation for Japanese municipal registry purposes. The Japanese Embassy in Paris handles consular matters. (Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MOFA, 2025.)

  • Key documents: Acte de deces and Embalming certificate (certificat de soins de conservation)
