NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) processes civil registration. For Muslim remains, Islamic law procedures apply and prompt burial is required; a burial permit from the relevant health authority is needed before final disposition. All foreign documents require certified translation. Pakistan has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 9 March 2023, so a document issued there is authenticated with an apostille from its designated authority rather than by full consular legalisation.
