Quick answer

Repatriation from Argentina to Japan: what to expect

Argentina has one of the largest Japanese diaspora (Nikkeijin) communities in South America, with an estimated 65,000 residents of Japanese descent. Japanese-Argentine nationals and their descendants sometimes seek repatriation to Japan, and Japan has had bilateral agreements facilitating Nikkeijin return migration. Spanish documentation (Acta de Defuncion) requires certified Japanese translation for the municipal office (shiyakusho). The Japanese Embassy in Buenos Aires handles consular matters. (Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2025.)
